First Glimpse of the 2007 Phillies

Things started out a bit rocky for Kyle Drabek.  FSU took him deep after only 3 pitches.  From the Trentonion.

Drabek, the Phillies’ top draft pick last season, is a long way from pitching in the majors. It took all of three pitches to see that, since that delivery was smoked deep into the bullpen in left field by Florida State second baseman Tony Thomas Jr.

Not to worry. The Phillies recovered from the early deficit to beat the Seminoles, 12-4, at Bright House Networks Field. But it is clear Drabek will need a lot of polishing in the minors for years to come.

Our boy Chase started the spring off on the right foot, going deep for a three run blast.  A blogger from The Serious Tip sent in a link to his recap of the game from an FSU point of view.

In the bottom of the first, reality re-entered Brighthouse Networks Field. A walk, an error, and a three-run home run by Chase Utley put the Phillies up 3-1 and reigning NL MVP Ryan Howard hadn't yet stepped to the plate. Howard walked, Burrell doubled, and the score was 4-1. Ouch.
