Flyers Back in Action, Take on Carolina at the Wells Fargo Center

TheFlyers are back in action tonight looking to pick up where they leftoff when they last saw the ice on Saturday. Winners of 12 of their last15 games, the orange and black have the best record in hockey since thenew year, but haven't fared well this season when coming off of lengthylayoffs.

Peter Laviolette has done an a great job juggling his two goalies andwill give Boosh the start tonight after Bob got the win on Saturday. Howexactly has Lavvy gone about picking which goalie to send out betweenthe pipes on any given game day?

"We talk about a lot of things when we talk about picking a goaltender," Laviolette said Tuesday. "Sometimes we factor in the style of the team we're playing. Sometimes we factor in the goalie's past record against a team. Sometimes we factor in the previous performance of our goaltenders. Sometimes it's even practice that might determine who we go to. It changes from game to game."

Tonight the Flyers will face the Carolina Hurricanes, a team they have beaten in two previous meetings this season. Bob started both of those victories so the "sometimes we factor in the goalie's past record against a team" argument must not have played much of a role here.

The potent Flyers offense will face Cam Ward for the Hurricanes, who didn't exactly fare well in their last meeting back in November when the Flyers lit up Carolina to the tune of 8-1. Ward was mercifully pulled in that one.

The Hurricanes, 4-5-1 in their last ten contests, are in the midst of a long five-game road swing.

As for the Flyers' time off, Ville Leino spent Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center taking in the Sixers game. Maybe Orlando's magic will rub off on the spinmaster and Ville can keep up his hot streak.

Puck drop circa 7:00 pm on CSN.
