Flyers Going for Home Win 1,000

With a win today, the Flyers will become the first expansion-era team with 1,000 home victories. Just another reminder that for the past 40+ years, we've been treated to some great hockey in Philadelphia.

We haven't really needed any reminders lately though, with the current club's run having everyone thinking we could see them return to a glory most of us have yet to witness. Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves though. Although this is gorgeous, there's still a lot of regular season left, with some tough matchups on the way.

First up is the Devils. While a last place team coming in for a visit doesn't necessarily strike fear into us, the Devils are suddenly looking a whole lot better than the team the Flyers beat twice in a weekend earlier this month.

Since then, Jersey is 4-0-1, including a pair of wins over Tampa Bay and a shutout of the Penguins. They seem to have found a scoring touch they've lacked all season, potting five goals or more in three of their four wins since we last saw them.

Martin Brodeur also looks to be back on track after riding the pine for a few games, including both losses to the Flyers. He's backstopped the Devils every game since, but reports are he'll get a break after shutting out the Pens. Works for me. No official word on the Flyers' netminder just yet, but Sam Carchidi believes it will be Brian Boucher.
