Flyers Trade for Defenseman Modry

Share

Although he's not the Tomas Kaberle or a Dan Boyle we've been hoping for, the Flyers today made a deal with the Kings for defensive help in the form of Jaroslav Modry.

The cost was an undisclosed draft pick, which we hope isn't too high in exchange for an aging d-man. Tim Panaccio points out
that Kaberle won't waive his no-trade clause, and Boyle may be close to
re-signing with the Lightning. The one thing we can hope for is that
the move will mean less reliance on Jim Vandermeer, who has had a rough
go of it lately, and some depth if any of the veterans should join the
recent parade to the trainer's room. Hopefully Homer has a few more
deals in the works, because this doesn't look to be the one that will
get them over the hump.

Thoughts on the move?
