Game 3 Postponed

You're probably already well aware tonight's game has been canceled.  Sorry, we're a little hungover here.  In case you weren't though, you're officially on notice: game 3 is postponed on account of snow.

While it further depresses Phillies fans worried about programming schedules (game 3 is now set for 10:07 tomorrow night), it certainly isn't a bad thing for the club.  After Thursday's bullpen debacle, an extra day allows Blanton and Happ to get some additional rest, with Happ now expected to get the start tomorrow night.

Although Major League Baseball can't be faulted for inclement weather in Colorado this time of year, and we've seen similar occurrences during some April road trips, it brings up a question I had since first checking out the playoff schedule.  With the World Baseball "Classic" pushing back opening day, the absolute earliest the World Series will conclude is November 1.  Game 7 would be on November 5.  Am I the only person who thinks maybe this is a little late in the year for baseball?

I played baseball.  I don't remember having a lot of fun in the cold.  Those aren't optimal conditions to say the least.  I don't really have any great solutions either (get rid of the Classic?), but with an expanded playoff format and the recent addition of a biannual exhibition schedule, they're pushing the sport deeper than it's ever gone, and it's fair to say weather postponements could become a regular factor during the post-season if they keep trying to play until Thanksgiving.

But hey, what do I know?
