Granddaughter of Dallas Green Slain in Arizona Shooting

The Arizona Daily Star is reporting that one of the victims of yesterday's horrific shooting in Tucson, Arizona, was Christina-Taylor Green, the granddaughter of legendary Phillies manager Dallas Green and daughter of Los Angeles Dodgers scout John Green.

A gunman opened fire on US Rep from Arizona Gabrielle Giffords and a group of people with her at an event in Tucson, killing six and injuring more than ten. Christina-Taylor Green was in attendance hoping to meet the Congresswoman. Even at just 9 years old, the story of this little girl, who was born on September 11, 2001, was filled with aspiration and great potential.

Reading the Arizona Star's story on Green's brief but inspiring life was difficult. She was elected to the student council. She'd just gotten a guitar for Christmas and wanted to learn how to play. She had plans to go to Penn State and live a life helping others. So much taken away so fast, so senselessly. We extend our deepest condolences to the Green family and all others who lost someone yesterday in Tucson.
