Happ Vs. Cubs, Complacency

Share

The clubhouse might be a little unsettled as the Phillies get ready to face the Cubs for three at Wrigley, but maybe that's just what they need to get out of the ugly funk they're in this month. After an unbelievable July and the acquisition of the reigning AL Cy Young winner, the Phils are just 3-8 since the trade. Is complacency the problem?

One thing that really hasn't been the issue is starting pitching, yet yesterday's and today's news is entirely focused on the rotation—who's coming, and who is headed to the 'pen. Regardless of whether Jamie Moyer's move to relief work is right, wrong, or just the way it goes, it's the bats that need to change their output right now. JA Happ will look to continue his outstanding rookie campaign, but it'd be nice if he had some early run support to help settle in against a tough foe in Rich Harden. Happ was just about perfect in his last start, with his rotation spot very likely on the line. With that all but solidified for the time being, hopefully he won't be feeling any of the complacency that was going around in the Marlins series.  Want to watch the game outdoors tonight?
