Howard's Homer a Historic One

Share

When Ryan Howard hit his  8th inning home run last night, he joined Chase Utley as the first two players in either league to get to the 25 homer mark. Via the Mike & Mike show, which quotes the Elias Sports Bureau, this is the first time since 1970 that the first two players to 25 were on the same team. Howard has also notched 80 RBIs, good for tops in the league, and most ever by a Phillie before the All-Star Break. Mike Schmidt still holds the team record for homers before the break, with 31.

We've included the clip of this classic Kalas call for the Philly transplants who might not have heard its glory.
