Iverson Says He's Still Bitter

Share

Looks like things aren't going to be all nice nice tonight.

"Things still linger and I still feel bitter about the way things
happened," Iverson said to a throng of reporters. "It didn't have to
happen like that and I think I deserved a lot more respect than I got.
These people had the chance to give me the respect I deserve and they
weren't willing to do that. So why should I try to give any respect
back?"
...

While Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said that he would like to wish
Iverson well before tonight's game with the Nuggets at the Pepsi
Center, Iverson said he didn't plan on doing the same.

"I don't feel I have a need to," he said. "Honestly, just to be
truthful with you, it's something that I don't want to do. For what?
For what?

How about for the fans who watched you for 11 years?  I understand Iverson having negative feelings towards Ed Snider, Billy King, and the management for the way it all ended.  It's a shame things ended so clumsily, I just hope it doesn't tarnish some of the good memories from those 11 years.  It's the age old dilemma among today's athletes, they feel disrespected and therefore don't feel the need to show any respect in return.  Anyone recall Iverson telling us over and over how he had "matured?"  Right.
