Jeff Garcia Mania Headed to Tampa

Share

Looks like Eagles castaway Jeff Garcia has found a new home, signing today with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. John Clayton has the deal being worth around $5 million per year, which would have been a lot for the Eagles to shell out to any backup. The Bucs also traded for Jake Plummer, after he said yesterday he'd rather retire than play for them. Not sure what the logic is behind that. With Plummer past his "prime," Bruce Gradkowski being less than impressive last year, and Chris Simms being, well, Chris Simms (minus one spleen), Garcia has a good shot at winning the starting job.

The Eagles won't play the Bucs this year (unless they both make the playoffs), so we'll at least be spared the media overkill that would have accompanied that game.

So long, Jeff, and thanks for playing with passion for the game and the city during your short stay here. Thanks also for having a hot fianceé who is very camera-friendly.
