You can put down your torches and pitchforks, folks. DeSean Jackson will not be holding the Philadelphia Eagles hostage this offseason.
The polarizing wide receiver took to Instagram on Tuesday to explain his comments about his hope for a new contract this offseason. Jackson just completed year two of a five-year deal, but when pressed by reporters about his status, the two-time Pro Bowler expressed a desire to renegotiate.
At the time, Jackson seemed to indicate it was an issue, but just to be clear, he hasn’t asked the organization for anything.

There you have it. Know ya info.
Jackson is coming off of a career year with 82 receptions and 1,332 yards, the latter falling 77 yards short of Mike Quick’s franchise record. The 27-year-old is due to earn $12.5 million in 2014.
No doubt, Jackson’s agent will pick up a phone and see what he can do for his client. It’s been suggested the Eagles may work with him to reduce this year’s cap hit, although the team isn’t in a position where that’s necessary.
If No. 10 can duplicate this season’s production or come close, he may have a legitimate gripe about the lack of security next offseason. For right now, it’s just chatter.
