Moyer vs. Lester in Second of BoSox Series

Share

In his brief MLB career, Jon Lester has beaten cancer and hurled a no-no. Hell, he's even got a ring. Not bad.

That shouldn't intimidate old man Moyer and his supporting cast of super bats tonight in the second round of Red Sox fans invading South Philadelphia.

Despite Lester's gaudy no-hitter, he's actually a pretty hittable pitcher. Last night, the Phils showed their 2-game StLumber is likely over, and no one wants to face Ryan Howard when he's on.

However, Lester -- who won his last two starts, giving up only 3 ER over 13.1 IP -- is a lefty, and we know that can give The Big Guy trouble, so we may not see a huge night from Ryan. Lester's WHIP versus lefties is 1.19, compared to 1.43 versus righties, so we may need The Bat to be the hero tonight.

Walks can be a problem for young Jon but in his last two starts, he's only issued one free pass. This is the Phils, who know how to take a pitch now and again so hopefully Chase can draw a few walks (he's done so in like 10% of his ABs this year), and then Lester will have to pitch to Howard and try to work around Pat.

Let's hope Pat and company make 'em pay. Go Phils.
