Muck The Fets: Phils Continue Recent Ownership of New York

It was a battle of the old guys on Friday night at Shea.  Jamie Moyer and Tom Glavine both had impressive outings.  Both gave their teams a chance to win.  After giving up a quick home run in the first inning to David Wright, Moyer settled in and only allowed one other run over seven full.

The Phillies got on the board on a Chase Utley home run in the sixth.  Jimmy and Pat may be getting most of the praise of late, but Chase certainly deserves his fair share of love.  Chase is the man.  Two six is about as consistent as Philly's got.

J.C. Romero and Tom Gordon added two scoreless innings.  Greg Dobbs came through in the 10th with a sac fly to put the Phils ahead for good and Brett Myers threw a scoreless 10th for the save.

Many thought the streaking Mets would get their revenge this weekend on the Phils for the amazing sweep just a few weeks ago.  A Friday night win certainly takes some of the pressure off the Phils going into the weekend.  Many also wrote off the Phils just a few short days ago after an embarrassing 12-0 loss to the Rockies.  I knew better.  The way the NL has been going, I've got a feeling every game in September is going to be meaningful.

Pedro takes the mound tomorrow against Kyle Lohse in a Saturday afternoon game. 1:10 start.
