No More Women Wrestling in Their Underwear While Soaking Wet

Jan 20, 2006, 9:47 AM EDT

Ben Franklin’s 300th birthday was the other day and if we could only take one of his countless quotes to heart it would have to be, "Beer is proof that God loves us, and wants us to be happy."  With that being said, the beer industry has been taking a hit as of late and is trying to change their image.  Beer commercials have become part of the sports viewing experience in America but the commercials we have come to know and love may soon change.  The beer industry is trying to change their image: (Money/CNN)

As wine, vodka and whiskey grab market share from beer, leading brewers
have crafted a new industrywide campaign that’s aimed at "fighting back
the enemy" by touting — get this — the finer aspects of beer.

This means no more (or at least a lot less) of the beer commercials we have come to expect.  Recently there has been a dry spell in witty commercials.  The Bud Light commercials featuring that loser guy who wears a helmet, who has to withstand shopping with his woman or listening to her complain, are simply horrible; they will not be missed.  I would expect more ads like the Budweiser Select ads which feature a 14th grandchild of Adolphus Busch telling us how clean, crisp, and clear their product is.
