Patrick Chung's reign of terror in Philly is over

Celebrate good times, c'mon!

No, the Philadelphia Eagles haven't completed any big free-agent signings just yet (outside of re-upping punter Donnie Jones for three years—more to come). However, they did manage to do one better.

The team announced the release of safety-in-name-only Patrick Chung on Tuesday, marking the end of his one-year reign of terror in the Birds' secondary. Signed as a free-agent stop-gap from New England last offseason, Chung was injured early on, and generally terrible after he returned.

The Eagles eat $1 million in dead money to save $2.25M in salary cap space in 2014. Update:

Doubt very much that Cary Williams or Trent Cole are sad to see Chung go. At one point, he was becoming a serious danger to his own teammates, as evidenced in this photo essay.
