Phillies Have a Fightin' Chance

Wednesday was a big day for the Phils.  It started off ugly, with Randy Wolf getting off to a horrible start and only lasting 2 innings.  They came back from being down 5-0 early in the first game of yesterday's double header in Atlanta.  Eude Brito replaced him and pitched 4 straight innings of no hit ball to keep the Phillies in it.  They scrapped back and with the help of some Atlanta fielding mishaps took the lead and Tom Gordon shut it down.

There were a number of positives yesterday.  J-Roll had 3 hits in the early game and a big homer in the late game.  Carlos Ruiz got in on the action with a home run.  Jon Lieber pitched very well and could be key in his last few starts.

The bottom line: When the Phils were up against the wall on Wednesday, they found a way to win.  Could this be a stepping stone to a great finish?  They're 1.5 back from San Diego.  Let's see if they can catch lightning in a bottle.  Winning both games of a double header was a big help.
