Phillies Opening Day 2005

Share

The Phillies are off to their best start since 2002!  They opened up the season today with a win over the Washington Nationals by a score of 8-4.

Kenny Lofton provided some power with a 3 run shot on a rope to right.  One of the most notable lineup moves featured Polanco at 2B instead of Chase Utley.  Pat Burrell had an encouraging day going 3-3 with 2 RBIs.  Jon Lieber got the win in his first start as a Phillie.

It seemed like the Phillies had the bases loaded a handful of times and came up rather small in those situations.  But a win is a win and the Phillies are above .500 for 2005!
