Photo Gallery: the Eastern Regional Championship for the PA Golden Gloves at former ECW Arena

Friend of the Level and professional photographer Tug Haines was in South Philly on Saturday night to capture some great shots from the Eastern Regional Championships for the PA Golden Gloves, another step on the way to national tournament coming up in Las Vegas. The fights featured Stephen Fulton, Jr. who went all the way to the Nationals last year. The night was put together by Joe Hand Boxing Gym and Computer Lab at the 2300 Arena, formerly known as the ECW Arena as well as many other names, at 2300 Swanson Street. Tug tells us that the ring announcer kept bringing up that the owners of 2300 Arena were still renovating the location, although it is fully functional they are supposedly adding “a five-star restaurant.” So right now I guess it’s kind of like the Death Star in Return of the Jedi. Tug tells us that it's a cool place with a good crowd. It seems like right now the venue is only booked for boxing, MMA, and pro wrestling but they want to have a bunch of stuff there from concerts to weddings.

Tug put together a nice little photo gallery for us. Each photo has its own caption, so click on the thumbnails below to enlarge the images:
