Quotable: Brandy, You're a Fine Philly Girl

Share

Roy Halladay made it perfectly clear that Philadelphia was the team and city for which he wanted to play. Not only did he and his wife want to play here, but they also consulted their oldest son Braden son on his feelings. The 9-year-old liked the Illadelph. From the Daily News, "Braden was printing out Phillies rosters last week," Brandy said. "He knows everything about this team. He's really into them."

Smart kid.

But it was Roy and his wife Brandy's quotes that stood out.

From another Daily News article:

"This is where I wanted to be," he said. "That was the bottom line
for us . . . I think there are things not only in business but in life
that are worth it. For me, this is one of those things. There are so
many positives to this for me and my family. I just couldn't pass it
up."

He said this wearing his new jersey, his new number, 34. It is, of
course, the same number Lee wore in his brief but memorable stint here.

"No, no, no," Brandy protested. "That should have been ours in July.
So technically he just kept it warm until we got here, right?"

Jeez. I guess if your husband is one of the best pitchers in the game today, you don't really have to show the same level of reverence for a guy who won this town's hearts over in three short months. Let's just hope Roy can do the same.

It looks like in addition to one of the best arms in baseball, we've also got ourselves a quotable machine for the next four years. We'll take it.
