Road Trip From Hell Will Test Flyers Mettle

With the Phils getting swept by the Lord's team, the Eagles looking god-awful, and the Sixers predestined to be god-forsaken, the only solace for us 4-for-4 fans is the Orange and Black's fast start and promising season. After dropping only one game on a tough Western Canada road trip to start the campaign, the Flyers came back to Broad Street and dominated on their home ice.

Now it's time to see if they're for real, with an 8-game road trip starting with back-to-back games against the Grapefruit Division. White-hot Marty Biron will get the start tonight against the Panthers, with Antero Niittymaki drawing the far tougher team in the Lightning tomorrow. Tim Panaccio points out that after a shaky preseason for the Czech Fin,  a lot of us might like to see the order reversed there, but John Stevens has a plan. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, as he hasn't made a mistake yet and has shown some brilliance in his ability to adjust lines and move personnel mid-game.

The road trip ahead consists of games at Florida, Tampa Bay, Boston, Montreal, Washington, NY Rangers, Pittsburgh, and New Jersey. That's about as daunting a road trip as I've ever seen. If they could take 5 or 6 of those games, I'd be honestly be happy. Especially if they beat the Rangers at MSG...
