Jayson Stark updates the latest in a potential Hunter Pence to the Phillies deal, noting that the Astros were not thrilled with a deal for Jarred Cosart, Jonathan Singleton, AND Dom Brown. Apparently the Astros want(ed) to try and flip Brown for even more prospects? Eye-opening stuff.

That’s a hefty haul to give up for Pence.

Stark continues, “So both clubs have been contacting other teams, trying to construct a
creative enough deal to work for everybody. According to an official of
one club that got drawn into those talks, the chances of that happening
are “50-50.” But it sure won’t be because they aren’t actively trying.”

I was initially a fan of the Phillies trying to trade for Pence, but the more I hear what Ed Wade and the ‘Stros are wanting in return, the less I like it.
