Rumors: Happ to Replace Eaton or Seanez?

Share

Earlier on Sunday, J.A. Happ was pulled from his start for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs after allowing no runs in two and two-thirds innings. Then there were grumblings on messages boards about "reports" saying Happ was fine health-wise and was seen being congratulated in the dugout. Putting the half truths and rumors together could mean Happ is getting called up to the Phils, perhaps?

Then Michael Radano of the Courier Post wrote this bit late Sunday night:

Even though the Phillies won there was an air of doom
in the clubhouse after the game. That’s because there looks to be a
decision on the horizon about the current makeup of the pitching staff.

Both
Adam Eaton, who is 4-8 with a 5.80 ERA after a pair of relief stints
over the past two games, and Rudy Seanez, who has a 6.14 ERA in his
last eight appearances, were called into the coaches’ office to meet
with members of the Phillies front office including general manager Pat
Gillick.

Happ told a reporter he was fine physically and hadn't heard anything official from the Phils' brass.

Phillies fans would welcome the reemergence of Happ on the squad especially if it means less time for Eaton or Seanez.

Keep an eye out for reports on the Phils off day today as to how the Phils would make room for Happ on the roster.
