There have perhaps been times when each of us misjudged Charlie Manuel early in his career as Phillies manager, maybe even as early as the day he was hired. Much of that was washed away by that little walk down Broad Street, but upon seeing the graphic below, we felt compelled to once again admit we were wrong, and we owe a lot of this whole ride to him.
Even at 94 wins and counting, a pessimist or Charlie-hater might point out that anyone could win with the expensive players Charlie's been given. But no matter who's on your team, it's not easy to sustain success in Major League Baseball. This season may even be Chollie's most impressive as a manager, because his lineup was regularly plagued with injuries and the result has been a strong finish and another division crown.
