Soccer Fight! Union Battle Costa Rica's Belen

Share

The third and final leg of the Union's preseason is taking place in Costa Rica, where the team is playing a series of friendlies in preparation for the March 12th season opener.

Today they played Belen of the Costa Rican Primera Division. After falling down 2-0 Michael Farfan decided to ratchet things up a bit. The fireworks begin at the :22 mark of the video above. Farfan, none to pleased with the clutching and grabbing by the Belen player, loses possession of the ball. From that point it's clear that he's made up his mind and he's going to take out his frustration on the opposing team.

What better way to do that than a sliding scissor tackle on an opponent?

All 22 players come together, the benches clear, and a soccer melee ensues. Keon Daniel throws the ball at an opposing player. Brian Carroll bounces around like he's in a mosh pit. Zac MacMath comes in and just about suplexes somebody.

All in all it was a solid team building exercise. I could not really see him anywhere in the video, but I am guessing the opposing coach wanted no part of Peter Nowak. The Belen coach did not want to learn about impact (IMPACT? What do you mean by Impact?) from Nowak.

Skip to the 13:48 mark of the video below to learn all about IMPACT!
