Summer Reading: Who Is William Wesley?

Share

I check in on countless websites on a fairly regular basis.  If I'm looking for NBA info, I hit up Henry Abbott's TrueHoop.  He loves the NBA game so much, I bet the guy sleeps in Trail Blazer pajamas.  I've seen the name William Wesley appear on his site on a number of occasions, but I had never really decided to read the posts about him.  Finally, with news that William Wesley would be featured in the latest issue of GQ (Update: link to GQ story), I thought it was time to give TrueHoop's "Who Is William Wesley?" investigation a read and figure out what all the hype is about.  It's pretty fascinating stuff.

I'm not even going to attempt to explain who Uncle Wes is, but I will give you a few facts.  He's been called the "most powerful man in sports."  He is closely linked to Allen Iverson, LeBron James, Rodney Carney, and the Philadelphia super agent Leon Rose.

I'd recommend starting on the final page of the archives at the bottom and reading up.  This entry from August of 2006 titled, "Lessons From William Wesley" is also a nice synopsis.  Mr. Abbott claims it will take weeks to read all of his Worldwide Wes archives, but I just spent a solid two hours on them and got pretty caught up.  Enjoy.
