The Buck is Back in Town

The Eagles, while pondering bringing in the skills of Corey Dillon or Ron Dayne, opted to go with Correll Buckhalter.

Buckhalter had attracted some interest in free agency, but instead of going elsewhere, stayed with the Eagles. The Eagles had visited with Ron Dayne on Thursday and admitted to having conversations with veterans Corey Dillon and Chris Brown before making the move with Buckhalter.

He back ups Westbrook in the Eagles offense, giving the team a familiar look in the backfield. Buckhalter's best games came late in 2006, so the team hopes he is on course to have an even better 2007 with the injury two years in the past.

Personally, I'm fine with this deal.  Buckhalter has never really peaked and has been injury plagued.  If he can stay healthy, he's an okay backup.  With Ryan Moats failing to materialize into a Westbrook clone, I wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles looked at RB with a mid-round pick in the draft.

Would you have rather had Ron Dayne to take that third and one carry, thus avoiding screen passes to Thomas Tapeh?
