Refs apparently missed 8 Eagles false starts vs. Patriots

Nobody is going to feel bad for Bill Belichick, Tom Brady or the Patriots about blown calls.

But if it seemed to you like the Eagles got away with a few false starts in Sunday's 35-28 win over the Pats in Foxboro, you're not crazy.

NESN.com compiled video of eight different offensive plays by the Eagles during Sunday's game that could or should have been called false starts.

Lane Johnson basically admitted as much.

"I thought I was early, but I got a good jump," Johnson said when asked about the crucial Riley Cooper catch on a 3rd-and-11 that helped the Eagles run down the clock late in the fourth quarter. "I was surprised they didn't call it, but that's the name of the game. Me and Jason Peters get called for false starts, but usually if they get you off the line, that's going to be a sack. It was good though. I'm glad they didn't call it."

These plays are obviously cherry-picked to illustrate a point, and exclude any missed calls that might have benefitted the Patriots, but some are particularly egregious. Scroll down to No. 7 for the most obvious missed false start, by Peters on a 3rd-and-3 early in the fourth quarter.

Worth mentioning that this specific officiating crew, led by referee Pete Morelli, was the one reportedly moved by the NFL from the Sunday night game to the Eagles-Patriots game in response to numerous errors in the previous week's Cardinals-49ers contest.
