The Good Doctor Knows His Way Around the Florida Hill

Wednesday's outlook is looking sunny for the Phillies. The Braves lost earlier in the day to the Nationals, the Fightins' get to enjoy another off-day tomorrow, and Roy Halladay (18-10, 2.44) is on the hill tonight to try and sweep the Marlins.

Roy has had fantastic numbers pitching against the Marlins down in Florida this season. He's allowed only 5 hits in 16 innings of work at Sun Life Stadium in 2010. Roy will be looking for his 19th win of the season, the most since John Denny won 19 back in 1983. The last 20 game winner was Lefty in '82 when Carlton won a remarkable 23 games.

The Marlins will counter with Jorge Sosa (2-2, 5.82). Not quite as impressive as Doc.

A victory tonight would push the Phils' lead in the NL East to three games and a day off tomorrow to enjoy it before getting back to work on Friday against the pesky Nationals at home.

How's this for an impressive game note: Roy Halladay has pitched 6 or more innings in 53 consecutive starts on the road, the longest streak by any pitcher since Walter Johnson threw 6 or more in 82 consecutive road starts from 1911-1915.

Also, reader John S. sends along this screen grab from his fantasy league, noting: "Logged on to my fantasy team this morning and they had three Fightins listed as the hot batters over the past two weeks." Yahoo! knows.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10. You've got to like the Phillies chances tonight. Hopefully God wasn't paying attention to the Marlins this morning.
