Tonight: No. 2 Boston College @ No. 8 V-Tech

Dec 25, 2006, 5:21 PM EDT

Hey, I’m as shocked as anyone to see my Boston College Eagles ranked as the second best football team in the nation.  I knew they were good, but didn’t expect them to reach these Heights.  (That’s punny! for you non BC peeps)

Tonight is a big game.  B.C. hasn’t really been tested by a legit team save maybe Wake Forest or Ga Tech earlier in the season.  I don’t have any numbers to back it up, but Virginia Tech seems to give B.C. fits.  The Hokies are actually 3 point favorites, which makes sense given that the game is in Blacksburg.

Some links for you to peruse before kickoff.

ESPN on our school’s work ethic and academic standards, "If there is a hybrid form of football somewhere between the NFL and
college football, it is being practiced at No. 2 Boston College."

NFL.com’s Mike Mayock on former Penn Charter star Matt Ryan:

"I think it’s been positive because both Logan and Jagodzinski believe
in giving a quarterback more freedom at the line of scrimmage than
[former Eagles coach] Tom O’Brien did," said NFL Network draft analyst
Mike Mayock, who has watched Ryan since his days at William Penn
Charter School in Philadelphia and now projects him as a top-three
pick
. "I think that’s the biggest difference, that he can take control
of the game now [with audibles]. To over-simplify it, he can get them
out of a bad play now."

Boston Globe preview whichs kinda debunks my thought that V-Tech owns BC:

Blacksburg, Va., has been a fairly regular stop on ESPN’s Thursday
night schedule, and it’s been a fertile time for Tech, which is 13-2 in
that time slot. But Thursday night against Boston College has not
proven as profitable for the Hokies, whose two losses have come against
the Eagles.

And after the jump, more proof that the Mets Suck!

Enjoy the game kids.  I’ll be watching with some fellow BC alums and by the time you read this I’ll have finished at least a six pack.  And yes… that’s Jessica Biel pictured wearing a BC shirt.  As always check out Atlanta Eagle for all your BC bloggy goodness.  You can see his game preview here.
