TUMBB: If You're Crappy and You Know it, Flap Your Wings (St. Joe's Edition)

If last night was any kind of preview of our in-conference match ups this year, well alright. The Owls absolutely steamrolled the Hawks in a "city series" showdown by a final score of 73-46. I know I, like Matt and many other Owl fans, expressed concern over how the team would react after the Kansas traveshamockery. But, following a 32-point loss with a 27-point win over a Big 5 and A-10 rival? Not Bad. Not bad at all.

Now, I'm not going to start spewing blatant lies and suggest that Temple is strong underneath. In fact, every scouting report on Temple headed into the tournament should immediately begin with the lines "pound the ball into the post," a reality clearly exposed by Cole Aldrige and the Jayhawks. Against Joe's, however, a team now absent Ahmad Nivens, the TU bigs had a field day; and, I doubt anyone enjoyed the happy Hawk hunting more than sophomore center Michael Eric.

Stepping up his game with Lavoy Allen in the Dunphy doghouse following a late arrival to film study, the Nigerian Nightmare dropped 13 and proved largely unstoppable for undersized St Joe's front court in the early going. After his brief benching, Allen, not to be outdone, rocked the Hawks for 20 and 11 despite his absence from the tip.  The win marks the sixth straight victory for the Owls over their City (Line) Avenue foes. The next meeting, the one that will count toward the Big 5 totals (yeah, it's weird, I know), comes February 20th at the Palestra. Now, for some obligatory gloating:

If you're crappy and you know it, flap your wings (ST. JOE'S!)

If you're crappy and you know it, flap your wings (YOU SUCK!)

If you're crappy and you know it and you really want to show it, if you're crappy and you know it, flap your wings (GO OWLS!)

Bird Droppings: Juan Fernandez was named the Temple University (December) Athlete of the Month for by Owlsports.com...With last night's win, Temple improves to 12-3 this season...They continue A-10 play with a trip to Rhode Island this Sunday...St Joe's wore black jerseys last night...it was...awkward...Cah Cah.

Nick Menta is a Temple junior, if his Temple leanings piss you off, maybe your team shouldn't suck so much - Enrico
