PHILADELPHIA -- Billy Wagner became the second free agent to sign a big
contract on Monday, agreeing to terms with the Mets on a four-year, $43
million contract, a source close to the negotiations told MLB.com.The source said that Wagner will be in New York for a physical on
Tuesday and a press conference could be scheduled for later in the
afternoon.
The fourth year had to seal the deal for Wags. I never thought the Phillies would match a four year deal. I believe the Mets over paid for Wagner but they can afford to do that. As my Mets friend put it, "I don't care how much they pay as long as they win."
