When I say the word lottery, what's the first thing that comes to mind?  The current 245 million dollar Powerball jackpot? Perhaps Gus, the 2nd most famous groundhog in Pa?  If you are a fan of the Philadelphia Flyers, my guess is the first thing out of your mouth at the mention of the word lottery would sound something like, "How the hell do I get tickets to the Winter Classic?"  On January 1st, 2010 in what's sure to be a cold and blustery Fenway park, the Bruins will play host to the Orange and Black in just the third regular-season U.S. outdoor game in NHL history.  Today, mere weeks after the intial announcement from Bettman and Co. confirming Philadelphia's involvement, we get a clearer picture of what it'll take to get you into the game.

First off, are you a Flyers or Bruins season ticket holder?  If the answer is yes, then I respond in the words of my favorite actor, Christian Bale, by saying "OH GOOD FOR YOU."  Congratulations, your respective clubs will be contacting you in the near future on how to purchase tickets.  For the rest of us, we'll have to make like old people and start playing the lotto.  But fear not, gaining tickets to this rare and historical event will not be left completely up to chance.  With the help of technology in the form of email alerts, you can get a head-start on the competition.  Simply go here, and sign up for free electronic updates concerning the 2010 Bridgestone Winter Classic.  Then, on September 15th, head to NHL.com to officially register for the drawing.

Ticket prices will range between $50 and $350 dollars.  And if all else fails, you can join the rest of the hockey watching world by resting your hangover and catching the 1pm New Years Day game from the comfort of your own home.
