Last time we checked in with Nick Young, he was celebrating missed threes and having his house robbed. In keeping with the constant party I imagine is his life, Swaggy was riding a zamboni at the Kings game on Tuesday … … and throwing out the first pitch at the Phillies-Dodgers game on Wednesday. Take a…
Swaggy uPdates: Nick Young gets in a hold-me-back fight, has sneakers stolen, and celebrates a missed 3

Former Sixer Nick Young has been filing in for Kobe Bryant this season in L.A. as the Lakers’ main attraction. Although the team owns the second-to-worst record in the Western Conference, it’s not for a lack of swag. Here’s a quick look at the headlines he’s made in the last week. Last Friday, he got in…

Reports this weekend from Evan Turner’s return trip to Philly with the Indiana Pacers revealed that Turner had driven to the airport with Sixers GM Sam Hinkie, the man who had just traded Evan from the only NBA franchise he’d ever played for. Thanks to bugging equipment the 700 Level had long ago installed in…

Nick Young never played on a particularly meaningful team in Philadelphia. But in his short time here, he did find a way to the hearts of Sixers’ fans in a way that only Swaggy P could — by shooting, shooting, and then shooting some more. And then probably shooting even more while falling out of…

I once wrote that there’s “not a lot of swag in being quietly efficient.” I stand by that — and so does Nick Young. Yes, Kobe Bryant played his first game back from an Achilles injury last night, but the return of a five-time NBA champion and a future Hall of Famer was overshadowed by…

There is a Swag-sized hole in our hearts now that Nick Young is no longer a member of the 76ers. Young was replaced in the offseason by cheaper — presumably better — talent, but no combination of promising rookie pieces can be as horrifyingly entertaining as Swaggy jacking 30-footers. Now a member of his hometown…

Tuesday was a popular day for local athletes to be sued for assaulting a woman. Shady McCoy may or may not have partied too hard on a bus, but it was Nick Young who was being taken to court over an alleged date rape from 2011. Now, a report from TMZ is calling the accuser’s…

A woman has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Sixers guard Nick Young as well as a West Hollywood bar for an incident that took place in the summer of 2011 in Los Angeles. The suit alleges that the woman accepted a glass of champagne from Young at a bar and after drinking it,…

Nick Young felt the need for some change yesterday and had his barber do something quite a bit different with his hair — unique even. Swaggy P’s new look was a popular topic of conversation in the locker room prior to the Sixers contest in South Philadelphia with the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night. Asked…

Admit it, when you first saw Nick Young attempt a 360 slam on an easy breakaway last night, you thought for a split second that maybe, just maybe, the rim was going to reject him. Thankfully, Swaggy P. completed the rare full-rotation dunk and all of the fans at the Wells Fargo Center enjoyed the show. Included among them on Monday night was none other than partial owner of the Sixers and Philadelphia native Will Smith who had some sweet courtside seats. You can watch the Fresh Prince’s polite reaction to the Swagster’s aerial above.

Nick Young was feeling the love last night. He gave Molly Sullivan one amazing post-game interview. But that wasn’t the icing on the cake. Moments later, Malik Rose gives us his very own Swaggy impression laid over some of his game highlights. It was faaaantastic.

So apparently a lot can change over the course of an NBA season. Not that the Sixers are a lot better then when they first faced the Knicks in a humiliating home-and-home, losing both games by dramatic margins, or that the Knicks are necessarily all that much worse, but suffice to say, the third time was the charm for the 76ers, as they rode excellent scoring nights from their top three perimeter scorers to a blowout just as bad as those the Knicks inflicted on the Sixers not all that long ago, winning 97-80 in a game that wasn’t even as close as the final score indicates.

Jrue Holiday. Career high in scoring. All-around baller. All the props must go to the Sixers young All-Star. But one of the more enjoyable plays in the Sixers convincing victory over the New York Knicks in South Philadelphia on Saturday night came in the form of Nick Young’s sweet alley-oop to Evan Turner. Spike Lee reacting like a sad little puppy was just the icing on the cake.

In what’s proving to be another must watch Sixers game, Nick Young provided a lone moment of excitement in the second quarter when he proved everything we believed we knew about Nick Young wrong. Not only did he pass up an opportunity to take a jump shot, but he also absolutely facializes Larry Sanders for a banger of a slam. Pretty good, Swaggy.

Hands up if you saw this coming. With the Sixers trailing 60-43 at half—yes, they gave up 60 points to the friggin’ Raptors in 24 minutes of basketball—you’d be forgiven for giving up on this one (as I was seriously tempted to do) and finding something more purposeful and less character-building to do with your Friday night. After all, the Sixers haven’t exactly been known for big comebacks this season—generally, when they’re down, they stay down, and the game’s basically over halfway through the fourth quarter. But it wasn’t so in this one, and the reason why has two names: Jrue Holiday and Thaddeus Young.

It’s tough to take consolation in the ol’ “Got beat by a better team” explanation tonight when facing a team like the 11-26 Hornets, but it’s true. After all, the Hornets are a whole lot better than their 11-26 record, something analysts always say when their squad is getting beat by opposing teams with crappy…

Los Angeles native Nick Young had a chance to spend some time at home during the Sixers’ West Coast road trip. Born in Reseda, Young played his college ball at USC and spent 22 games with the Clippers at the end of last season. We typically joke around about Swaggy’s playing style, but if you’ve…

The New Year is all about reflecting on the past, looking forward to the future, and according to my wife: not shaving your legs until mid March/early April. So seeing that this is the time for Best Of columns (and because I couldn’t think of a decent thread for this post), here are my Year-End…
With This Absurd Life Choice as Inspiration, Which Philly Athlete is Most Likely to Shave a Logo into His Own Head?

Behold Amir Johnson’s head. (And his back. And that bar code he’s rocking.) The 6-foot-9 Toronto forward thought it a good idea to shave the Raptors’ logo into the back of his skull and get it appropriately colored. Two things race to mind: 1. David Puddy 2. The scene where Heath Ledger is threatening Maggie…

This segment is a couple of week’s old, but I just saw it for the first time yesterday and had to share. Nick Young shows off a bit of his personality in a one-on-one with Dei Lynam. Something of note we learn about Swaggy P. is that he’s enjoying his time on the court in…

Here’s a quick video about the Sixers “Give N’ Gobble” featuring Nick Young and Kwame Brown helping give back to the Philadelphia community as well as jive talking with some turkeys along the way. Three amazing things about this video: 1. Nick Young even makes turkey-handling gloves look good. 2. Even the turkey’s are feeling…

Following his big team-high 23-point scoring outburst and all-around solid performance — four assists! — off the bench in the Sixers come-from-behind victory over the Raptors on Tuesday night, Nick “Swaggy P.” Young was wearing a sweatshirt that read “Swaggy P.” on it. And he was talking about himself in the Swaggy third person. One…

We ridiculed Nick Young for his atrocious shot selection earlier this month against the Knicks when he heaved up a most questionable of shots while falling out of bounds. It was some circus type stuff that’d you’d never expect to go in. Except for when Swaggy P. made that same exact shot tonight. One of…

How about them Philadelphia 76ers? Doug Collins’ squad won their third-straight contest last night to improve their record to 4-2 on the season. After winning ugly in New Orleans on Wednesday and holding their own in Boston on Friday, the Sixers came out blazing in the second quarter last night, outscoring the Raptors 32-7 in…

Nick Young likes to shoot the ball — a lot. He likes to shoot the ball so much, apparently he’ll fire it up from just about anywhere without prejudice.
