Apparently, Darren Daulton had to stop Mitch Williams from ‘attacking’ Lenny Dykstra on Saturday

Pretty descriptive headline, right?

While we were out doing whatever it was we were doing, it sounds as if a fight was only narrowly avoided on Saturday at the Granite Run Mall between members of the 1993 National League champion Philadelphia Phillies during an autograph signing.

Philliedelphia was the first one of the first sites get something up, linking to this post from a Philly INK Signings Facebook fan page:

As nice as it was to meet everyone and get some graphs, the highlight of the day was clearly Dutch stopping Mitch Williams from attacking Lenny Dykstra. Would love to know what that 20 year disagreement was about.

Yikes. Dykstra, who is totally off the deep end and was only just recently released from prison, has long been critical of Williams for — what else? — the last pitch of the 1993 World Series.

An interview with NBC10′s John Clark from 2011 paints a clear picture of the Dude’s unclear mind. From Phillies Phollowers:

During the interview, Dykstra talks about the possibility of him being assassinated by a bank, tells his critics “suck my d*ck” and even compares himself to Ghandi.  You cannot make this stuff up.

It gets worse when he starts talking about Charlie Sheen.  Dykstra calls Sheen “focused.”  He also blames Sheen’s condition on “medication” and says most of it is a “joke.”

But my favorite Dykstra moment comes when he blasts Mitch Williams, whom he says he hates.  Why?  Because, according to Dykstra, “He lost the World Series,” and put Dykstra through “torture” as a result.

But it sounds like, judging from Philly INK’s tweets Dykstra wasn’t the aggressor in this case. Fightin for Philly rounded up these tweets:

From what we understand, Williams was actually there for a separate event . It’s unclear how close they actually came to blows, or what constitutes “attacking” in this case. But let’s just say the guy who’s fighting brain cancer had to stop at least one guy who’s brain dead from getting into it.

I can’t wait until Jayson Werth and Shane Victorino get into a bro fight 20 years from now at the Oxford Valley Mall.

Lenny Dykstra is a worthless scum bag, con artist, low life POS. Bad father, worse husband who never did anything for anybody but himself. Mitch Williams blew the game but I blame the manager who put a guy in to pitch with nothing left but fumes. Does the moron on roids, Lenny Dyksta , think Williams wasn’t trying to get outs? Why should Mich shake Dyksta’s polluted hand?

Dykstra may be a moron on roids, Williams is just a moron

Dykstra is a total jerk….has consistantly thrown Mitch under the bus…..Mitch has always stood up like a man and taken the blame…..said he gave all he had to give and Joe Carter got the better of him……im a Phillies fan and i nearly cried that night…but most dont feel any ill will towards Mitch……but Dykstra has been and always was a jerk…..and I cant stand him even a lil bit…….

The pitch that Williams threw, that Joe Carter hit was so far inside, it was almost on Carter’s hands when he hit it. You can’t blame Mitch for that one. If a guy can crank a pitch on his hands out of the park, where the heck can you throw it to stop him from hammering one out? Dykstra is and has been certifiably nuts for a while now.

Who’s who in the clip and where is the transcript? Is it worth it to ask and is it worth the time to respond?

      • Cluelessinchestercounty - Nov 4, 2013 at 12:42 PM

I’m guessing Mitch is in red

      • willh888 - Nov 4, 2013 at 3:19 PM

The guy who looks like Darren Daulton is Darren Daulton. The other one who looks like Dykstra is Lenny Dykstra

Dykstra and Daulton are both losers.. they loved their hard drinking, their recreational drugs and their steroid needles.. and now both are atypical worthless ex-jocks. Mitch on the other hand took a situation some would have literally killed themselves and their family over (ex: go wikipedia the name Donnie Moore– he killed his wife, daughter and them himself after losing the ALCS back in mid-80s) and became a successful color analyst and is someone to be admired.. God Bless #99 .. #4 & #10 are worms

  5. Susquehanna80 - Nov 3, 2013 at 5:44 PM

PS: We all know Dykstra was in jail for over a year for bilking innocent people of lots of money via his hair-brained profit making schemes. Most don’t know Daulton was a jailbird too.. Was arrested at least twice to my recollection.. once for DUI & refusal to be tested, and once for spousal abuse Source: Just keyword Daulton’s name.. Mitch has never been arrested.. leads a law-abiding quality life and deserves Respect from these piece of garbage Phillies fans to ideolize those Macho Row scum wayyy too much

There’s a reason why we love Mitch and laugh about Lenny. Nails has a long way to go to be likable even a little bit.

  7. Kerry - Nov 3, 2013 at 10:04 PM

Of course, I don’t know Williams….but he comes off as an a_ _ whole know-it-all….obviously Dykstra is messed up….

I also am not a fan at all with any of the so-called macho row crap – as far as I’m concerned, Kruk embarrassed himself and the Phillies organization when he looked like a little leaguer the year he hit in the all-star game.

Special Note: boy am I glad I have a mute button on my T.V. remote control when Wheeler starts running his mouth….sometimes silence on a TV broadcast is good; you don’t need to have constant babble.

You know, maybe Mitch followed Lenny’s investment advice.
