Audio: Jonathan Papelbon Doesn’t Pay Any Attention to Trade Rumors Because Reading Is Hard

Jul 2, 2013, 3:48 PM EDT

When Jonathan Papelbon opens his mouth, often amazing things come out of it.

We bloggers are thankful for that.

Today, Paps was a guest on MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM and had a gem when asked if he pays attention to his name popping up in trade rumors:

“Man, I don’t read… I can barely read, so…

Phillies fans are not shocked by this revelation.

Then he rambles on about something or other:

“I was trying to get a psychology degree at Mississippi State so… I’m not a big.. you know, I don’t know… I don’t really pay attention to it. To be totally honest with you, I don’t have the time.

Man, I would love to watch Jonathan Papelbon, Psychologist at work.

He also thinks Yasiel Puig getting consideration for a spot on the All-Star Game after his torrid MLB debut is “a joke,” calling it an insult to guys who have been in the Big Leagues for years.

Rubes, please get something for this ignorant hick. I’m sick of hearing him try to speak…

Wish he was here in Boston, never should have let him go

“Tell me about your childhood… actually, to be totally honest with you, I don’t have the time. Just feel happier, ok?”

He’s right, it would be a joke. One month is two months fewer than most players. This isn’t the Pro Bowl. This shit means something.
