Ben Revere Seems to Have Just Learned of Andrew Bynum’s Contract, And He’s Not Happy

Jul 20, 2013, 9:16 PM EDT

Ben Revere feels your pain, Philly fans. He’s also probably still feeling some of his own pain, with a broken foot that’s expected to keep him out for the next six to eight weeks.

His use of “this dude” and not “mah dude” is a clear sign of judgment, one made all the better by the fact that Bynum agreed to his new deal with the Cavs a good 10 days ago. Revere is either just getting to this or he’s still that irked by it. Tremendous, either way.

In the Cavs’ defense, and to set Ben semi-at-ease, Bynum’s two-year $24 million deal is really more like a one-year deal with $6 million guaranteed, $6 million potentially available, and a team-option for Year 2.

Follow Ben Revere.

Bynum better call in sick when the Cavs come to Philly……

    • docdeath20 - Jul 21, 2013 at 1:47 PM

      That’s if he plays

    • rondo - Jul 23, 2013 at 1:05 PM

He won’t, and it’s a strong chance you won’t be at the game either.

What a stiff this bum hit the lottery, like Ryan Howard stinks doesn’t play but gets paid, only in America

    • kvk - Jul 21, 2013 at 6:17 PM

Cheap shot. Howard has played through pain and while not completely healed after a serious injury. No comparison t Bynum.

      • docdeath20 - Jul 21, 2013 at 10:35 PM

My good man, Whether Howard played thru injury or not doesn’t changed the fact he stinks and is the second over rated player in Philly. Cole Hamels being Number 1 however everyone is entitled to their opinion.

      • Chris - Jul 22, 2013 at 12:12 AM

Thank You! Talk about apples to oranges. Bynum is just a bum who got paid & 76ers get nothin. Ryan Howard has been a true Phillies since day 1 and his early numbers b4 injuries are staggering!

      • steve pilacik - Jul 22, 2013 at 7:02 AM

Howard may be overpaid-BUT does not stink

    • Ed - Jul 22, 2013 at 10:10 AM

A more apt comparison, which no one seems to remember anymore, would be Danny Tartabull. He signed a $2 million free agent contract with the Phillies in 1997 and packed it in after three games with a 000 batting average after breaking his foot on opening day. Somehow he never made it back. He’s now wanted in LA for not paying child support.

Thanks to stupid owners and the unions major sports is lowly being destroyed and we the die hard fans will and continue to pay. Twenty give bucks to park plus tickets etc etc. before we know everything will be on pay per view

    • Mostel - Jul 22, 2013 at 6:23 AM

      Unions destroyed sports? Do tell.

  4. docdeath20 - Jul 21, 2013 at 1:57 PM

The kid from Kentucky if healthy will be a good kid to build around. Now bring in the guy from the Spurs and let’s get started

  5. Yipicya - Jul 21, 2013 at 2:33 PM

    Ben who?

Bynum may suck, but never as bad as Ben.

    • mykhuis - Jul 21, 2013 at 6:35 PM

Ben Revere sucks? The guy who was hitting over .300 for the season and was at like a .440 clip since late May? Yeah, he sucks.

  6. stantheman - Jul 21, 2013 at 6:45 PM

How can any “hitter” play MLB and have NEVER hit a homerun? Explain that Ben!

    • Matt S. - Jul 21, 2013 at 11:33 PM

Explain how homeruns are apparently the only indicator of how good a hitter is.

    • Franchise - Jul 21, 2013 at 11:56 PM

You do realize there are HOFers with over 3000 hits and less than 100 HR in there careers, right. Hell Rod Carew had 3053 base hits and 92 home runs in 18 years. HITTERS set the table for POWER hitters. Know the sport Stan.

    • this isn't clever - Jul 22, 2013 at 4:04 AM

Not sure if you’re just trolling, but pretty embarrassing thing to say considering the Phillies organization produced Richie Ashburn.

    • Mostel - Jul 22, 2013 at 6:25 AM

Really Stan? I guess you’re one of the people that used HRs to keep Whitey Ashburn out of the Hall of Fame for so long. Learn baseball.

Ben Revere hustled to first base with a broken foot. Andrew Bynum missed an entire season with sore knees. Thread explosion, that’s it.

    • sfsu - Jul 22, 2013 at 10:39 PM

Andrew Bynum has a knee condition that prevents him from playing. He also doesn’t call out athletes in his own city behind the veil of social media. All I see here is that Revere is an uninformed d-bag.

I have no problem with the money athletes get, but it’s hugely ironic when millionaire athletes complain about other millionaire athletes, especially in non-contact sports.

      • rondo - Jul 23, 2013 at 1:03 PM

I agree players would not want another player calling him out if his leg was screwed up! Mind your business Ben Revere.

  8. sfsu - Jul 22, 2013 at 10:43 PM

Unless Revere is not collecting a paycheck on the DL, or he can prove that Bynum was uninjured, then he’s either a dick, really stupid, or both.

  9. Mike - Jul 23, 2013 at 8:15 AM

Ben hustled with a broken foot; Andrew is just a hustler.
