Charlie Manuel Will Do the Managing, Thank You Very Much

If you think you’re fed up watching the Phillies, imagine how Charlie Manuel must feel. He has to watch this team and talk about this team that is now mired in a season-long five-game losing streak after a 4-3 loss in Minnesota on Wednesday night.

The pressure might be finally starting to get to Fightins' manager. Manuel went on a bit of rant while speaking with reporters before yesterday's game, specifically when pressed about Ryan Howard batting cleanup despite the fact that the first baseman has only hit one home run in his last 111 plate appearances. Via Matt Gelb:

"What the [expletive] are you getting at?" Manuel said. "Who's going to hit there? Let me ask you a question. Let me turn that around some. Write what you want to write."

It was suggested that Domonic Brown could bat there.

"I could put anybody in there, OK?" Manuel said. "Really, if you think about it. I'll do the managing. Whoever hits there, hits there."

Fair enough. I will do the blogging, Charlie can do the managing. And as long as Charlie is doing the managing, Howard can do the cleanup hitting apparently. Now everybody back away slowly…
