J-Roll Quotable: Despite Country Accent, Charlie Manuel ‘Sharp as a Tack’

Aug 17, 2013, 1:48 PM EDT

“You hear his country accent and you think he’s a little bit slow but he’s sharp as a tack,” Jimmy Rollins said of his former manager on Friday night after Charlie Manuel was let go from his role with the Phillies.

Last night’s losing pitcher Cliff Lee also commented on Charlie’s departure, noting it’s part of the game and that Charlie took the fall for the performance of the player’s on the field.

You can’t say the same for J Roll and his plate discipline. He never listened to Charlie’s batting advice.Any decent pitcher throws him shit on the first pitch considering he always swings at it. I’m sick of J Roll’s me first attitude, it hasn’t been successful for at least 3 seasons now.

First pitch of last night’s game……………you guessed it……………..pop up out by Jimmy!

Jimmy Rollins, a true love-hate relationship. One of Charlie’s faults was letting Jimmy get away with strolling out of the batters box. Charlie should of disciplined Jimmy with a nice two day suspension every time a lackadaisically wandered to first base.

good to see the nonsensical jroll hate is alive and well.

I guess ripping a guy for being in the bottom half of all offensive statistics for shortstops is nonsensical as well. It is not 2007 anymore, I don’t watch this current Phillies’ squad for nostalgia. Jimmy Rollins is a drag on this current franchise and needs to go. I guess you would defend Ruben as well.

Jimmy could stand to shut the f*ck up. He’s one of the reasons Charlie was ultimately fired. Philly sports history will remember Jimmy fondly, but until then, he can piss himself.
