Phillies Reportedly Shopping Cliff Lee But Want Team's First Born in Return

The vibe out of the Philadelphia Phillies after their atrocious road trip sure seems to be "sell," but to what extent still remains to be seen. Michael Young is probably packing up his locker in preparation as we type, but other guys like Carlos Ruiz, Jonathan Papelbon, or Cliff Lee seem to have a less predictable fate.

While I had believed Cliff Lee was unlikely to get dealt yet again by Ruben Amaro, it seems the Phillies decision maker is at least listening to offers and is demanding quite a return.

From Jon Heyman at CBSSports.com:

"He's telling people it'll take you three or four best prospects, plus you'd have to take all the money," one competing executive said of Phillies GM Ruben Amaro.

Another executive put it thusly, "You'd have to give up your first born, second and third born, too."

I tend to be of the opinion that it's foolish to not at least listen to what other teams have to offer for your current guys. That doesn't mean anything is necessarily going to get done before Wednesday's trade deadline though. Lee being scratched from his scheduled start over the weekend certainly was curious though, wasn't it?

You think Clifton will be a Phillie come Thursday? I'm leaning 'yes'.
