Watch Chooch Give Charlie a Gift From the Team After 1,000th Victory

Aug 14, 2013, 10:49 AM EDT

source: Charlie Manuel won his 1,000th game as manager of the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday night and Carlos Ruiz and his teammates honored Chuck following the game by giving him a base signed by the team.

Charlie became just the 59th manager in baseball history to reach the milestone.

The video is worth watching to hear Chooch say “Charlie” alone, but Manuel also offers some poignant words.

“I love every one of you,” he said to his team.

Here’s a closer look at the special base.

We’re happy for Charlie but sadly we don’t see another 1,000 ‘W’s in his future.

“Here’s to a 1000 more” – Loved how the locker room cracked up at that bit, considering Cholly is probably close to retiring. Congrats Cholly!

“You the ones who play the games…and I love every last one of ya” – Hard not to like ol’ Cholly.

Very cool. Charlie just gets it. He knows that at the end of the day it’s all about the players. It’s no wonder they love playing for him.

I wish Charlie luck with what ever happens to him; I definitely would like him to coach for the Phillies next year, just give him more capable players where needed re; Mr. Rubes!!!!
