A Battle of Two of The Game's Greats

When we last saw Cole Hamels pitch in game action he was manhandling teams on his way to one of the best playoff showings ever by a starting pitcher. Today, the World Series MVP will see his first live action in Clearwater this spring. He'll have the unenviable task of having to face the lethal Matt Stairs and his Canadian wood who is suiting up for Team Canada in preperation for the World Baseball Clasic.

Stairs is off to a slow start this spring going 1-7 thus far. One might even go so far as to say his roster spot on the defending World Champions is not exactly safe.

Cole is simply looking to come out and gain control of the strike zone in his first outing. "I'll just be looking to get strike zone awareness. I'm not
even worried about the results at this point... I'd say, yeah, I'm
mentally and physically ready to go." [Inqy]

Zolecki has today's lineups.

Continuing with the WBC clasic theme tomorrow, the Phils will face Jimmy Rollins and Shane Victorino when they take on Team USA.
