Former Sixer Armen “The Hammer” Gilliam Has Died

Sad news to report out of Pittsburgh where former Sixer Armen "The Hammer" Gilliam has died after suffering a heart attack while playing a pick up game at LA Fitness. Gilliam played on those woebegone Philadelphia teams of the early 90s for three seasons. He's perhaps remembered best for wearing one of those legendary ugly Sixers uniforms and rocking a sweet ass crooked flat top hair style. Oh, and that time he dunked on Sir Charles.

RIP The Hammer.

Update: The Sixers have issued a statement on Armen's passing: “We are deeply saddened to learn about the loss of
Armen Gilliam,” said Sixers President Rod Thorn. “He was a hard-working, physical player
during his distinguished 13 years in the NBA and we are proud of the
contributions he made to the Sixers from 1990 to 1993.  On behalf of the
entire Sixers organization, we send our deepest condolences to the Gilliam
family during this very difficult time.”
