Howard learning to play OF to make team

With Jim Thome playing first base, it seems almost impossible for the talented Ryan Howard to make the Phillies squad this year.  The Solution?  Teach him to play the outfield.  I hope he can adjust because he could be a great bat to have on the bench.

The Phillies yesterday finished their second day of full-squad workouts at the Carpenter Complex, and for the second consecutive day Howard, who has played first base exclusively throughout his career, worked afterward with Phillies bench coach Gary Varsho, who is helping Howard learn to play left field. They plan to work together as often as possible this spring.
