The Weekend That Was in Philly Sports

Oct 17, 2011, 3:55 AM EDT

There was no baseball in Philadelphia this weekend but there was plenty of action on the ice, on the pitch, and on the football field in DC.

How about those St. Louis Cardinals? After defeating the Phils they went on to shut down the Brewers and advance to represent the NL in the World Series. When you’re hot you’re hot.

Here’s what you may have missed this weekend in Philly sports:

Ain’t Dead Yet: The Eagles kept their playoff hopes alive with a win in DC

Gut Punched: Shady McCoy gave Andy Reid a little love tap to the belly

Mike’s Sorry, Ladies: See why Mike Vick apologized to the Redskins cheerleaders

Nasty: Watch Brent Celek’s ridiculous catch

Really Nasty: Zac Rinaldo lays out Drew Doughty, watch it here

Ole Captain: Mike Richards puts a dagger in the Flyers hearts on Saturday night

Banging On the Door: Brayden Schenn means business

Flying High: Pierce sets new records as Owls soar over Buffalo

U Earned It: The Philadelphia Union clinch their first ever playoff berth

Screwed: B-Hop got screwed by the refs on Saturday night

What did we miss?
