Video: Dei on Turner, Turner on Holiday

Caught this on Sports Rise this morning and liked Dei Lynam's emphatic calling of the #2 pick being Ohio State's Evan Turner, and even more than that, I liked Turner's take on potential backcourt partner Jrue Holiday.

I'm probably reading too much into it, and the Sixers could still cause an uproar by taking someone else or trading the pick, but more and more, all signs point to Turner. After seeing quite a few storylines indicating that the Sixers might go a different way, it's encouraging to see most beats now calling Turner the pick. Sixers fans deserve something to be optimistic about, and the potential for a Turner pick is the best we got right now.

For his part, Turner sounded like a man who was pretty confident he's coming to Philly, and wide-eyed with optimism at his potential once he gets here. No matter what happens with the pick, success is probably still a long way off for the team. We all know that, and virtually no one is dreaming of a meaningful playoff run this coming season. But I still love the NBA Draft's ability to get us thinking about a better team down the road instead of the dreadful one that left the court last season.
This sports town is wide awake coming off the Flyers' amazing run, the Phillies back-to-back trips to the World Series, a fresh start for the Eagles, and the advent of professional soccer, but we could really use some respectable hoops back in the mix.
