Video: That Time Doug Collins Unleashed On His Players for 11 Straight Minutes

Share

After last night's pitiful loss to the lowly Orlando Magic, I was walking from the media room across the court to the little corner of the Wells Fargo Center where Dough Collins does his post-game press conference and I was talking with another reporter. We were trying to predict what Doug's demeanor would be like following such a poor showing. My cohort suggested anger in the form of short and snappy answers. I suggested resignation, with Doug saying things like "I just don't know what else to do." Boy, were we both wrong. Doug unleashed on his team last night.

Okay, so I was partially correct. Doug's tone did wreak of resignation, but nobody saw the eleven and a half minute rant that was coming from the Philadelphia Sixers Head Coach.

Some people blame Collins for this team's failures. Collins blamed the players. Until he said he didn't blame the players. Really he wanted to blame the guy they traded Andre Iguodala, Nik Vucevic, and Moe Harkless for and have had zero minutes to show for it this season.

To me it's just one of those awful situations where everyone is to blame. The front office for the likes off the Spencer Hawes' deal, Kwame Brown, etc. The players for showing the kind of effort they did last night on a pretty regular basis. Doug for not getting the most out of his guys. Andrew Bynum for not playing basketball and leading us all -- including his teammates -- on a three-ring circus.

It's been ugly. It's been hard for all of us to watch. Last night, Doug let his feelings out.

At least that part was wildly entertaining.
