Video Highlights: Union Top DC United in USOC Action

Share

The
Union have lately been finding more success when their matches don't
impact the MLS table, a trend that continued with their second win in US
Open Cup play last night against DC United. Brian Carroll opened the
scoring as the first half neared its close, but DC quickly answered,
equalizing in stoppage time.

Regulation ended with the teams knotted at 1, but
Antoine "Chester Cobblepot" Hoppenot put the Union ahead with an
overtime tally that would prove to be the winner. The season has given
us little to celebrate so far, but it's still good to see the U showing
well in this tournament—and who knows… maybe even gaining some form that
will carry through to regular season play.

Check out the video highlights below, nicely put together by DC United, and read more from The Illegitimates. Interesting to see two pro clubs playing at a venue like this.

The Union host a USOC Quarterfinals match against
the Harrisburg City Islanders, one of their affiliate clubs, at PPL Park
on Tuesday, June 26 at 7:30 PM. Pretty cheap tickets available here.
