Cowboys lose, Eagles take over first place, obligatory Jerry Jones sad face

Dec 10, 2013, 12:07 AM EDT

It’s only fitting that the hottest team in the NFL is also in first place. By virtue of a 45-28 Dallas Cowboys loss on Monday Night Football, the Philadelphia Eagles have taken over sole possession of the lead in the NFC East.

In the grand scheme of things, the designation means very little. The Eagles still need to finish with a better record than Dallas in order to win the division, so a one-game lead is worthless unless they beat the Cowboys in Week 17.

That is, of course, if the Cowboys make it to Week 17.

The Eagles are in a great position to win the division before they play Romo and the Romettes in final game of the season.Without Peterson, the Eagles should take care of business against the Vikings,If Roger plays, the Dallas defense can look forward to giving up 450 + yards and another lose and drop them to 7-7.Who would have thought it after the Denver game, that the Eagles could wrap up the division before the last game ? Nick Foles is becoming the leader of this team and is showing that he can handle the pressure that comes with it.

Looks like he’s riding one of those airport buses taking you to your rental car.

Was this game in doubt after Romo appeared on SI cover? Guess that’s still a thing.

Correct me if I am wrong, but there is still an isolated scenario where the Eagles can get the 2nd seed. Obviously they have to win out. If Carolina beats the Saints at home, and they both lose one more game, that would put us all in a big tie at 11-5, which for some funny reason I feel like the Eagles would own the tiebreaker in that case…

Saints get the Panthers once more.. but they also get Rams and Bucs. It’s unlikely they lose 2 of 3, but it’s the NFL and weird stuff happens all the time. Panthers also get to finish with the lowly Falcons who are fighting the Texans for that top pick. Not to ruin all the fun but the birds just have to go out there and keep smackin people.

PHI can win vs MIN and actually lose to CHI and still win in week 16 IF DAL lose to GB and then to the new lead WAS
