Cold water on the Jose Bautista and Dom Brown trade rumors

Nov 13, 2013, 11:40 AM EDT

source: It’s safe to take all Phillies rumors started by Howard Eskin with a bucket of salt, so it’s not surprising today to see a number of people who cover baseball nationally for a living shoot down the report last night that the Toronto Blue Jays were in talks with Ruben Amaro Jr. and the Philadelphia Phillies in a deal centered around Jose Bautista and Dom Brown.

    Well thank god.

I mean, I know RAJ is bad, but for a second, I thought he went straight up psycho ward looney.

Wait, are you saying that Eskin was wrong. Sorry, this is not possible.

I am relieved that aren’t looking at another mid 30′s injury prone player.

You are correct Eskin knows more about sports then my 2 cats combined, yet he remains employed. I remember little Howie sitting court side as a kid at the Sixer’s game telling the Sixer’s coaches how to coach. One thing I will say on his behalf is all the wonderful charity work he does that people aren’t even aware. he gives a lot of time effort and money in helping people. That is the only thing I like about him, and nobody can take away from the knuckle head.

Anything is better than Don Tollefson’s charity work.

Not even if it would ensure World Peace would I make a trade this stupid and nuts, however A$$ Clown RUBIE is if not the worse GM in baseball. Brown will continue to flourish, its A$$ Clown RUBIE’S job to surround the kid with talent. We finally have solid catching prospects plus Freddy, Caesar and Cody A to build around not to mention the young bull pen. The Marlon B signing is a head scratcher at 16 million. What still to this day amazes me is why we traded Pence, since we did we have had nothing but holes in right field and Pence was still affordable. So this only proves my point on what a douce Ruben is. I saw nothing gained trading Pence unless Tommy Joseph becomes the next Johnny Bench. A quote from a former 9-0 coach TIMES YOURS

He’s a current 9-0 coach, not a former. Freddy and Ceasar are not people to build around. They are bench players at best. We’ll see what happens with Asche. Sandberg likes him and it looks like he’ll get the opportunity to be the starting 3rd baseman next year. Joseph, Biddle, and Franco are at least 1 more year away, so while the signing of Byrd for that much money is, at best, puzzling, we can’t go full on into youth movement mode until those guys are ready to be called up.

As I have said before, we will muddle around the .500 mark for the next two years until the big TV deal is signed. That will be done by keeping names people know and bringing in Veteran names to put butts in the seats.

If by saying they will “muddle around the .500 mark for the next two years” you mean that they’ll win 68-72 games, then I wholeheartedly agree!
